MOHAIR SOUTH AFRICA MARKET REPORT – NOVEMBER 2019

The penultimate sale of the 2019 winter season took place in Port Elizabeth today, 19 November 2019, with 95 679 kg on offer.


The market indicator gained 1% from the previous sale to close on R224.00 per kg.


A highest price of R551.00 per kg was paid for a bale of good style 25 micron kid mohair.


Althought the kids segment of the market showed some downward movement, the finer kid mohair remained fairly unchanged with the
stronger mohair decreased slightly.


The increased demand for adult mohair resulted in the increase of the price of this segment.
Compared to the previous sale, prices were as follows:
Kids (winter) Down 3%
Young Goats (winter) Down 1%
Fine Adults Up 4%
Strong Adults Up 2%
Average Up 1%


The final sale of the 2019 winter season will take place on 3 December 2019.
